The Tortoise Farm Nature Reserve
| The critically endangered geometric tortoise is dependent upon its renosterveld habitat – of which 97% has already been destroyed. Most of these South African tortoises survive on private farms. Working very closely with the farm owners since 1992, we have protected remaining key populations and habitat. In 2001, thanks to the generosity and support of one of these farmers, we established The Tortoise Farm (79 acres). This project is of a sensitive nature and we purposely limit information. |
